THE NAUTICAL SECTOR IN CATALONIA
Catalonia has long been one of the first tourist destinations in Europe. With a unique geographical situation and unbeatable infrastructures that have made our land a world leader by land, sea and air. With 51 marinas, Catalonia offers more than 30,000 moorings of all lengths. The marinas of Catalonia have a coastline of great diversity and beauty. They also offer a wide variety of services and facilities of the highest quality, with everything necessary for lovers of navigation to enjoy their stay on our coasts and use the Catalan port facilities as a base for their boats. The private and public nautical sector grows continuously and without major obstacles. Thus, according to the DBK observatory and considering a sample of 23 of the leading private management companies in Spain, their joint turnover experienced a growth of 3.2% in 2016, estimating in 2017 a similar increase, which allowed this variable to reach 74 million euros. The life of the sector is good and this is demonstrated by the fact that large investment groups are betting heavily on the marinas of our territory. The decline of the nautical sector of large lengths of French is causing Spain and Italy are taking away many of these boats, and important international fairs are landing in Barcelona. Despite being happy about these positive data, grassroots workers see how our economic and labor conditions are the only point in which the sector is not advancing, on the contrary every time we look to reduce more wages and working conditions, especially in the new additions. All this can be economically beneficial for private companies in the short term, but it will mean a decrease in quality and long-term specialization.
